Website Translation – Content Plus DTP

This the more traditional level of website translation where all content and graphics bearing content are translated into the language, or languages, of your choice. This level of service includes Text and Meta Data translation plus graphic manipulation to exchange source language to the target language. Image files, Flash files and PDF files are just some of the files that require DTP (Desk Top Publishing). 

Source Files for Translation

One of the most common oversights made by website owners is failing to include the graphic ‘source’ files for translation. Source files are those files that were used in creating the website graphics. Some examples of source files include:

• .AI (Adobe Illustrator)
• .INDD (Adobe InDesign)
• .EPS (Encapsulated Post Script)
• .PSD (Adobe Photoshop)
• .FLA (Adobe Flash)
• .PSP (Paint Shop Pro)
• .PDF (Adobe Acrobat File)

Although we’ve listed .pdf files as a source file there are exceptions. Because .pdf files can be created from a number of different programs, some .pdf files can be modified directly and this is the reason we’ve included into the list above.

Translated File Formats

Examples of website graphic files that are not easily modified and in some cases are completely unmodifiable include:

• .bmp (bitmap file)
• .gif (graphics image file)
• .jpeg (Joint Photographic Experts Group)
• .jpg (same as above)
• .png (Portable Network Graphics)
• .ps (Post Script file)
• .swf (Shockwave Flash or Small Web Format)
• .tiff (Tagged Image File Format
• .tif (Tagged Image File)
• .wmf (Windows Meta File)
