In Netflix News: Latin American Expansion

Cinema in Latin America and the Caribbean is on the brink of a new dynamic, if Netflix has anything to say about it.  With the upcoming Netflix expansion, Argentine cinema may experience its biggest change since beginning in Buenos Aires in 1896.  Recent Netflix news reveals that later this year, the twelve-year-old company started by Reed Hastings will extend services into Latin America and the Caribbean. If there is any doubt regarding the extent of Netflix's power, just ask Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes.   In a time when Facebook, Microsoft, and Groupon are expanding overseas, it is no surprise that Netflix too would follow this same course of action. 

In 43 countries in this South American region, Netflix users will have instant access to their favorite global movies and TV shows: from critically acclaimed visually-striking films to dark cerebral movies, users will have full access to the Netflix experience. Better yet, these films will be available in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.  And with this Latin American expansion users will be able to access Netflix from different electronic sources, including mobile devices. 

So will Netflix be successful outside of the United States and Canada?  Is this step just the beginning of a global Netflix expansion?  Will Netflix sites soon be available in French, Italian, German, etc.? With more than 23 million members in the United States and Canada, and Netflix set to launch in 43 more countries, will there be significant growth insubscribers in the year to come?
