Andrew Thompson – International Affairs Expert, Conflict Resolution Specialist
With a B.A. in History/Political Science from Coastal Carolina University, Andrew Thompson is in pursuit of a Master of Science degree in Global Studies & International Affairs from Northeastern University. Andrew lived on the shoreline of the Atlantic Coast during his undergraduate studies but knows that life is no walk on the beach if he is to obtain his goals. Accepted into the Foreign Translations, Inc. Journalism Internship program, he is taking full advantage of this opportunity to develop his skillset. Foreign Translations, Inc. is the first recipient of the journalism excellence Andrew provides when he writes an assessment from his global understanding.
When Andrew isn’t immersed in his journalism passion, he picks up his clubs and heads out to the golf course to play 18-holes. On average, he’ll play golf 3 times a week. He also loves baseball and always tries to keep up with his favorite team, the Atlanta Braves. From time to time, he really enjoys going for a hike. Traveling across 40 of the U.S. states, it is easy to understand how the Rocky Mountains of Colorado are near the top in his list of favorite places to visit. The satisfaction Andrew finds in the outdoors relies on the weather’s cooperation to a significant degree. So when the weather is less than ideal or he wants to simply enjoy the outside from a window, Andrew spends some time reading; assuming that there is no do-it-yourself home project or computer in need of his hands-on technical support. His reading interests vary, but his favorite author is definitively the literary icon, Mark Twain. In Andrew’s opinion, the comedic jest in Twain’s writing is too often undervalued.
In reflection of his time with Foreign Translations, Inc. as a journalism intern, he states that it has been a well-rounded experience. He feels that the welcoming environment and the other interns contributed to a fun and developmental experience. The internship taught him more than he originally expected he would learn and he will remember this experience far more than the inclusion of this item on his resume.
