Starting out of a spare bedroom in their house in 1998, CEO Ken Zwerdling and President Tamar Paltrow created a translation services company. After more than 15 years working for large Fortune 500 companies and 5 years running his own Management Consulting firm, Ken decided it was time for a change. Tamar had been a professional Italian translator for most of her professional career. The combination of business experience and translation experience seemed like the perfect match. After starting out as a company that only provided Italian translations, the company expanded to offer all the major languages of the world.

In early 2007, the company changed its name from Mondial Translations and Interpreting, Inc., to Foreign Translations, Inc. “We outgrew our frequently mispronounced and misunderstood name Mondial, which is a derivative of the Italian word for ‘worldwide’,” In January 2008, Foreign Translations received its registered trademark from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. As globalization takes center stage, the company plans to expand its services worldwide. According to Zwerdling, it was necessary to take the appropriate steps to grow and protect the company’s brand. With the company name – Foreign Translations, Inc., its branded and trademarked message – Go Global With Confidence®, and its website address http://www.foreigntranslations.com, Foreign Translations, Inc., has positioned itself as a global leader in the translation services industry.
